While giving birth to my twins (Emily and Ethan), both Ethan and I almost did not survive the delivery.  Unlike his twin sister, Ethan weighed barely 680 grams (1.5 pounds) at birth and was born six weeks early.  The wonderful NICU nurses were truly inspiring to watch as they lovingly took care of all the sick babies each day.

It was a life-changing experience that made me want to give back in some small way.

But since I am not a nurse or doctor, I instead turned to my passion for quilting.  I saw how much my own children loved it each time I made them their very own special blankets and thought that doing it for other sick children could be my small way of helping others.
